Code-a-thon(Hackathon)

Event Description

Code-a-thon is a hackathon event of INSPIRE 2023 Techfest where students work in a team to provide innovative ideas and solutions to specific problem statements and showcase their technical skills, critical thinking ability, presentation skills by making prototypes/working models of their proposed solutions.

  1. Teams can use libraries, frameworks, or open-source code in their projects. Working on a project before the event and open-sourcing it for the sole purpose of using the code during the event is against the spirit of the rules and is not allowed.
  2. Adding new features to existing projects is allowed. Judges will only consider new functionality introduced or new features added during the hackathon in determining the winners.
  3. Each team should consist of 2-5 members.
  4. Teams can be disqualified from the competition at the organizers' discretion. Reasons might include but are not limited to breaking the Competition Rules, breaking the Code of Conduct, or other unsporting behavior.
  5. Teams have to dedicate for minimum of 3 hours at the event to work on their project.
  6. To ensure a level field for all contestants, all code must be created only at the hackathon. You are permitted to use publicly developed and openly licensed APIs and SDKs for your project.
  7. Project design/assets can be created prior to the start date of the hackathon.
  8. Team members could be from different institutions as well. Make sure you have the proper Id-card for reference.
  9. Innovative ideas and proposed solutions to a problem will be considered.
  10. The implementation/working demo/prototype will be considered for evaluation.
  11. Interdisciplinary (students with different branches) teams can also participate.

Mind Sweeper(E-Treasure Hunt)

Event Description

Mind Sweeper is a game in which each person attempts to be first in finding Something That has been hidden using written riddles or clues and using his visualization power.

  1. Elimination is based on the completion of the assigned task at the earliest in Second and third round. A candidate who completes all levels will be declared as a winner.
  2. The time limit will be strictly monitored according to event start time. Any violation of the same will lead to immediate disqualification without notice.
  3. The answer can range from a word to a phrase or may completely and utterly surprise you.
  4. No clarifications or doubts about the questions will be entertained.
  5. In case of any dispute, the decision of the organizers will be final.
  6. No discussion between the participants is allowed once the event starts; otherwise, the organizers have the full authority to disqualify the participants.
  7. The organizing team has the right to change the rules and regulations of the event.

LAN Gaming

Event Description

A LAN Gaming Center is a event where one can use a computer connected over a LAN to other computers, primarily for the purpose of playing multiplayer computer games. Use of these computers or game consoles costs a fee, usually per hour or minute; sometimes one can have unmetered access with a pass for a day or month, etc. It may or may not serve as a regular café as well. Many game centers have evolved in recent years to also include console gaming (Xbox, GameCube, PlayStation 2). Other centers offer computer repair and consulting, custom built computers (White box computer), web design, programming classes or summer camps, and many other technology related services. Centers are starting to offer PS3s, Wiis and Xbox 360s that are playable in store.

Event Description

College students pitch their problem solving idea to a panel of judges. Participation

  • College students can participate individually or in teams (maximum of 5 members)

Presentation

  • Each participant or team will have a limited time of 10-20 minutes to present their idea to the panel of judges
  • Presentation must include a PowerPoint presentation or prototype
  • Each presentation must include a 3-year plan for the idea, research related to the idea, target consumer for the idea, implementation strategies, differentiate the idea from competition, and team member roles to implement the idea

Judging Process

Presentation Evaluation

  • Judges will ask questions and provide feedback
  • Judges will shortlist ideas based on problem-solving ability, future vision, presentation, and clarity of idea

Awards

  • At the end of the event, judges will select the most promising business idea and award prizes to the top 3
